Ёжик в тумане (Hedgehog in the Fog)

I love this Soviet/Russian animated film (and not just because I’m fond of bears and hedgehogs). You can watch it here.

Etsy: StephieSays – Saint Basil’s Cathedral T-shirt

I bought this great t-shirt from StephieSays on Etsy and I love it. It’s nice and long. Yes, I periodically visit Etsy and search “Moscow”, “Russia”, “Ukraine” and “Maps” (I have a great European map t-shirt from Etsy) and, as you’d imagine, this is what the search for “Moscow” produced. You’ll have to excuse me, I’m terrible at taking photographs of clothing, but the illustration/print is the most important part. (Full pic from Stephie’s Etsy)

Olga Chernysheva / Calvert22

Why didn’t anybody tell me about Calvert22 before?

THE UK’S ONLY NOT FOR PROFIT FOUNDATION DEDICATED TO CONTEMPORARY ART AND CULTURE FROM RUSSIA AND EASTERN EUROPE

I was reading through the paper earlier and came across an article about the current Olga Chernysheva exhibition at Calvert22 and it most definitely sounds like my kind of thing. If you follow my Tumblr, you probably would have realised by now that I have a thing for Russia/Ukraine/Soviet Union/Eastern Europe, etc.

Looking through Chernysheva’s website, it’s impossible to select one or two images to post, so here are several of my favourites. I really need to visit the gallery soon!

This is probably the closest I’ll ever get to having children

CitID – Honour Your City

It’s not often I post about things other people have put together, but this project excites me because of my love for THE WORLD and, err, an interest in design.

I’ve been browsing through the submissions on CitID and it makes me wish I lived in an interesting city to submit an entry of my own. Not that London isn’t interesting, but there are several London entries already. The idea is that, well, I’ll copy and paste what CitID says because it’ll make more sense.

Our hope is that creatives from around the globe will make a logo or a visual interpretation of the city closest to their heart. The universal goal is that every city ultimately gets their own identity on CitID, and that both the city and it’s aesthetic contributor gets recognition through this library – a place where you come for visual inspiration and leave with more knowledge about the world we live in.
