Ektachrome 64 / Diana+

I ran a roll of expired Ektachrome 64 through the Diana+ and the results were interesting. Seems like the poor guy at Foto Plus had a hard time trying to scan the negatives, so I doubt I will be in a hurry to use this film again. Some of the snaps look quite bright and interesting, but half were too dark, blurry or didn’t come out at all. I know Diana+ can do better than that!

Misadventures in Film (Smena 8M)

Previously, I mentioned the problem I have with my Smena 8M. It arrived from Russia with a faulty shutter cock. Considering I did manage to get two photographs from the first roll last summer, I thought I’d give it one more try. To take a photograph, you’re supposed to pull down the shutter cock, so it locks into place. When you press the shutter release, it fires back up. Mine won’t lock. However, I figured I could hold down the shutter cock with my right hand and use my left to press the release – making sure to let go with the right as I do so. It’s quite difficult to do this and as you’d imagine, it’s hard to keep the camera steady – thus resulting in blurry images. Oh well, at least it sort of works. It’s a shame about the blur because I like the colours. Once I figure out a better way to steady the camera, I may go for third time lucky. Really, I should just buy a working model from eBay. It’s probably cheaper than developing a roll of film.

Holga Cat Camera – Take Two

The first film produced washed-out photographs, which left me disappointed. Not wanting to give up on the cat camera, I decided to give it a second chance. Some of the photographs aren’t too bad, but the majority are quite dark. I finished the roll back home in the kitchen using the flash and they came out a lot clearer, but with a green tint. I doubt I will use this camera again – although, maybe it could be third time lucky? These photographs are in order of when they were taken and I was on the phone the whole time, hence the angles.
